Grant Guidelines
Eligibility
Nonprofit organizations are required to provide proof of a 501(c)(3) designation from the IRS. Applicants are also required to have their own IRS designated tax-exempt Employer Identification Number (EIN) and be in full compliance with the Ally Non-Discrimination Policy.
Ally Non-Discrimination Policy
It is the policy of Ally to treat people on an equal basis, regardless of age, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation or any other reason prohibited by law. To be eligible for a grant from Ally, an organization must do the same.
Ally Grants Program Focus
We give priority to programs that support low- to moderate-income individuals in the following giving areas:
Financial literacy
As a financial services company, Ally knows the importance of providing consumers with essential tools and information so they can make educated decisions about their personal finances. Ally supports financial literacy through its Ally Wallet Wise program and through corporate grants.
Housing
Ally supports programs that promote home ownership, and other housing-related programs.
Community services
Ally provides support for community development. We believe in supporting basic needs and services in the community, including food banks, shelters and other social services.
Ally does not fund the following:
- Individuals
- Athletic teams or social groups
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation or any other reason prohibited by law
- Memorial campaigns
- Political causes, campaigns, or candidates
- Travel-related events
- Sponsorship of events
- Endowments
- Programs designed to promote religious doctrines
