Have an informal inspection performed

A vehicle inspection will be completed by the dealership or a third-party inspection company, usually within 4 days of returning your vehicle.

An inspection is required to determine if you have fulfilled your contract obligations related to mileage and wear.

Although your local GM or Chrysler Group LLC dealer will inspect your vehicle if you return it, you can have an independent inspection company inspect it first.

Then, if excess wear is discovered, you can have your local GM or Chrysler Group LLC dealer – or any qualified source – make the repairs.

This can help you avoid excess wear charges when you return your vehicle.

What happens after the “official” inspection?

After your vehicle is inspected:

  • View the inspection report at http://www.inspections.ally.com/
  • View a sample inspection here
  • Receive a letter (usually within 3 days) detailing what you may owe for excess miles, wear, and possible late charges and past due payments, if any
