I love Ally's 60 month CDs. They pay near top of the market interest. On top of that with their 2 month interest penalty for early withdrawal all of the CDs that you take out with Ally should be for 60 months. If you need the money sooner than 60 months just take the interest penalty. With the higher interest paid on a 60 month CD you will end up a bunch of money ahead. If interest rates go up (yea I know wishful thinking) then you can again close the CD and start a new one and the interest you will have received will still be much more than the penalty.

I opened a 12 months CD account online and the process went through smoothly. The customer's service was excellent besides the great rates that were second to none.

There should be a way to set up online where to send intrest disburstments, and weather you want to roll over for another term or have it deposited in a existing account. I would like to set it up in advance and forget about it. I don't want to try and remember it 5 years from now. I have this ability at my other online bank and it works great!

Since I wanted four CD's under the same name, I opened the account on the phone. Very good service, and got the setup all under one log-in. They required trial deposit/withdrawals from my checking 1st. When I called to confirm the amounts, the agent asked if I wanted him to start the withdrawals. This is where the trouble started. I had already set up the withdrawals on my 1st call, so I figured they would follow-through on that. Wrong. I actually got four ADDITIONAL withdrawals, which put me in a SERIOUS over-drawn situation. While I feel their system should have prevented this error, it was the customer service experience that made the day. Not only did they manage to reverse the extra set within 6 hours of my call(after saying it would take one or two days), but they offered to pay the over-draft charges without my asking. I had to call customer service one more time, and both times, I was treated with respect and felt very satisfied that they really did care.

i tried to purchase a cd for a trust on-line. . i already have a trust cd with ally. anyway, i inadvertenly opened the CD in my own personal name instead of the trust. i immediately called Ally. the rep told me another Ally rep would be in touch with me. That was 5 days later and the interest rate had already dropped. She told me it would be another three to four days before a rep would call me to set up this. I thought the rate would drop again so Instead I purchased the cd online from a credit union where I have trust CD's. The rate was just a tad bit lower but I was able to accomplish this in a matter of minutes instead of days.

Rates are competitive with my high yield credit union. With the CD-Renewal bonus, they beat the credit union. I just keep renewing my CDs!

I had some problems in the beginning (maybe a disconnect having to set up CDs on the phone) with CD info not displaying onscreen when expected, and the timeline from money transfer to CD start wasn't explained clearly in the beginning. I think some of the customer service people weren't as thoroughly versed in your products as they should be. But I see these as minor glitches and customer service worked moderately hard to correct the problems. Overall, best rates I found on CDs and plenty of options to choose from. I also really like the Online Chat. I know most sites have it, but just glad Ally does also. Suggested improvements: * Continuing education for customer service * Show the maturation date on the first page of "My Accounts. It would be good to see the most important info all in one place, then available to print, rather than having to look/open each CD record. * Ability to perform more functions online.

I have been a huge fan of Ally :but I was really disappointed in how they handled my purchase of 2 CDs recently. When the information appeared on line, both the amount and the interest rate were different than what we had agreed on. The amount has been corrected but the rate(lower of course) still has not been corrected. This has defintely shaken my confidence in Ally. Hopefully they can resolve their internal problems that allowed this to occur. My advice to those seeking a CD is that they get email confirmation of the rate and amount that was agreed on.

I would like the option on line to set up a CD to either roll over into another ally cd or to mature and be deposited into my ally money market account. I really don't like that I have to call (and bother) one of your representatives.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Ally. They are helpful and professional, and I especially like the online help.
