I like Ally's checking account and the fact that they pay nearly ALL ATM fees, but there are some severe disadvantages. For an internet-only banking service, it took them FOREVER to get a decent mobile banking app up and running. Furthermore, I can't BELIEVE how long it takes a check to deposit and for the funds to be available. We're talking nearly a WEEK here. This is absolutely unacceptable and a major problem with me. I guess the jury is still out because I just don't understand that aspect of internet banking with ALLY. Shouldn't electronic transfer be faster? Ugh!

I am disappointed in the lack of data, if a check doesn't clear I have no way of knowing and the staff on the telephone don't know either. This is ridiculous there should be some sort of notation seeing as I operate several different accounts sometimes I make a mistake and because you guys don't have any notation, I won't find out for weeks greatly compounding the problem. I do however, love the much lower fees associated with over drawn checks. And I also appreciate that there is no additional fee associated with paper checks clearing my account. (and no fee for the checks themselves.) That is very nice. :-) SO has that for a criticism sandwich. Brittani

I am so glad I took a chance and went with you almost 2 years ago. It was easy to sign up and even easier to get direct deposit going. The real feature that says me $$ is the ATM reimbursement. This has literally saved me hundreds of dollars over my old BOA account. Thanks Ally!

My Ally checking account offers me all of the services and flexibility that I could ever imagine. My favorite feature is the ability to deposit checks using the app on my smartphone. It's just one more way Ally makes banking convenient.

Bill pay system is rudimentary. There is no way to parse the different divisions of bills (i.e., credit cards, insurance, mortgage, etc.) ALSO...most aggravating, is the fact that the balance does not reflect bills that are waiting in the pipeline to be paid. Suggest that balance be net of pipeline payments to avoid insufficient fund problems.

I love my ally account, but recently had to report a lost card. Hold time was very long. I requested to take the survey at the end of the call and was going to report my abnormally long wait. Of course, the rep disconnected my call at the end saying "If you have chosen to take the survey, you will be transferred now." Then the line goes dead. The wait is ridiculous and the reps do not seam cheerful like when ally was new! I really love ally for the fees and ease of use but I do not look forward to calling them again anytime soon!

I wish i would have known that if i overdraft one time.. one small mistake.1 dollar to much at the gas pump, then my checks would have a 7 day hold for 6 months.This puts me in a tight spot when my insurance is due on my work truck.

I love being able to use any ATM and get reimbursed and being able to scan and e-deposit checks (can't wait to try out the new mobile scanning feature!) The only downside to this account is that you can't e-deposit cash/money orders. Since there are no physical locations, you have to convert the cash to a money order and send it with a deposit slip via snail mail. This makes me nervous since the last thing I sent to Ally in the mail, they said they never received...

I have been looking for a bank that would give me a rate that would satisfy me and finally I found Ally. I am very please with the service and product

I have been with quite a few banks, and I have to say that in every category Ally tops them. They have the best rates, best customer service, best at not having fees, and a well designed website. The only thing they are lacking is some more products. I wish I could transfer my credit card over and with they had more retirement accounts. Other than that keep up the good work. I see us going far.

Good but Phone reps need IMPROVEMENT
