This account was so easy to open. Ally has a great customer support. It is great to make money on my account rather than give it to my previous bank. I highly recommend Ally.

Ally bank was slow to adopt stuff that is important to me compared to competition. Your iPhone deposit was only 19 months after my brokerage and USAA adopted it. Now you have a very disruptive feature - when a check hits your system, you lower my balance for quicken downloads, but you don't stick the check in the download system. This means multiple times a week I get essentially a communication about an over draft or unauthorized withdraw. If this continues for much longer, I am going bank hunting.

I really like online banking but when I compare Ally to INGdirect or as it is called now Capital three sixty there are quite a few features that are still lacking. They do not have a system where you can load the cheques that you have written to see at a glance what will be coming out of your account. They also do not remove or put funds in your account on hold when you make a payment. That would be great so I can see what I have left to work with. My biggest frustration is the way that they handle cheque deposits. You cannot see that it has been deposited and then you do not know what the status of the deposit is. Capital three sixty has all of this plus more so maybe we we will see some more features in the coming new releases.

okay, so I'm only five weeks old with Ally, but I am liking what I see. it is said that people don't switch banks because it's such a hassle. I have never found that to be true if you plan ahead. I've probably endured all the biggies over the past decade and hated every one of them. I get a completely different feeling from Ally - they treat me like - imagine this - a CUSTOMER, not a threat to their profits. they move with ease and confidence in their customer relations and will even laugh at one of your bad jokes. I guess you could say there's a disadvantage in not being able to go eye to eye with your banker, but I am SO not there. my last bank's official policy seemed to be to greet everyone with sourness, suspicion and an attitude that you were interrupting them. I get nothing but cheerful from Ally's customer reps. in the first month, my account was a whirling dervish of activity -a result of MAJOR closing screw-ups by my prior bank. Ally danced through it like a ballerina without a single stumble. they really do seem state-of-the-art and still improving. I mean POPMONEY - they have it! that is so great. even stodgy old WF doesn't have it. by the way, I am 65 years old and have dealt with finance - sane and otherwise - for a LONG time. I like my bank to move with today's realities and yesterday's honor. I have only one suggestion so far and I've already shared this with them. I think they should send your debit card as soon as you open your account, whether it's funded or not. I can understand checks being slowed - they have to be printed and could be abused. but Ally controls the use of the debit card and should be able to block abuse. if your direct deposit hasn't hit your account yet and you try to do your call-in activation, the Robocop can just say, sorry, please call back when you have money in your account. plus they control the acceptance or decline of a debit attempt. my point is this - I want to start using my money as soon as it hits, but the catch is that I can't because my debit card won't get life until the money hits and then it takes up to ten BUSINESS days to reach you. that's the only part that didn't work for me. I ended up paying $15 to expedite the card and did receive it about three days after my money hit the account. but I feel it should have been included in my welcome kit, without or without money yet deposited. other than that, i'm enjoying the absence of stress from just approaching a bank's front door. i'm betting my money on Ally; the giants are never too big too fail.

I'e worked for several Large companies which have Call Centers that provide their Customer Service and every time you call you get a different answer to the same question. Not with Ally the customer service is the best and you can trust what the agents tell you to be correct the first time.

I would recommend an Ally Checking Account to anyone that is looking for a total online banking experience. Forget the brick and mortar, not necessary! Easy breezy online checking, a nice interest rate given the economic environment, and no service fees. Can't beat it!

Just wanted to comment that a little over 2 months after opening both an online checking and savings account , you guys delivered as advertised. Not a single complaint here. Opening the accounts was as simple as A-B-C and transferring funds from my old credit union was painless as well. I've had a chance to use all areas/tools Ally offers - including online bill pay - and would rate them very user friendly. I can't really see anything to improve on. Just keep the high standards you have in place and I'll be a satisfied customer. Thanks!

I was upset very much that you guys froze my account leaving me stranded because you lost my signature and ID. It would also be nice if you had an app to deposit checks with camera phone. However, the interest and fee waivers are great benefits to almost make up for it.
