Interest rates are very competitive, but for some reasons their processing lead times are way higher compared to other banking institution. If you are looking for keeping your savings for higher interest rates, then this is the place. If you need to move funds around quickly, this is the last place you want to be. As per me if you are internet based shop, you should be operational 24 by 7. This does not holds true for any of funds transfer transactions. For Ally Saturdays and Sundays are labelled as non business days. If you transfer funds, their 5 days lead time wont count sat or sun, which makes no sense to me. If everything is happening online over servers, how does sat / sun matters.

Ally used to have great rates for MM accounts and CD's but that is a thing of the past. I always kept my emergency funds and other easy access cash accounts with Ally. I have since moved most of my savings elsewhere.

this is by far the easiest and most efficient bank to open an account and bank with on line...AND you can even get a bank card with the money market account. Simple, efficient, secure. Can't ask for more.

I've had bank accounts with all major banks in the United States, and various smaller banks as well. I have never had such an awesome banking experience as I have had with Ally Bank. They have exceeded every single one of my expectations. Free checking (with free checks!); 100% ATM fee reimbursements; outstanding customer support; highest interest rates anywhere; fast and reliable ACH transfers to/from Ally; remote check deposit from my home computer (I've never once had a problem with it); a display that shows how many money market withdrawals I have left for the month (per the Federal law); etc. I love Ally Bank. Plain and simple: Ally Bank is the best bank around. (Note: I have no connections to Ally Bank, and I've been a customer for 5 months)

The opening was a simple process, but what is very important is how the customer service operate; in five minutes any question can be answer, without misunderstanding or any complication. i originally switched to ing from my local bank. ing customer service rep was very unprofessional with me on the phone telling me about his personal problems, etc. i was skeptical but eventually switched to ally. ally is 2nd to none. excellent site. excellent service. top-notch product. i am very happy.
