What happens if a payment fails?

If a payment fails, we will always send you an email to alert you. Then, you can set up a new payment in Ally Bill Pay or call your payee and make other payment arrangements.

Here are common reasons that payments fail:

  • No payment is due. Some payees cannot accept payment until a bill has been posted.
  • The payee’s low payment limit is above Ally’s limit of $1. For example, if you make a payment of $5 to Company A. If Company A has a $10 low payment limit, your payment would fail.
