Quicken® Downloads FAQs

  • Can I use Quicken® to download Ally Online Banking activities?

Yes. Customers can download account activity from Online Banking to Quicken using Quicken Express Connect or Web Connect.

Web Connect allows you to manually download a file from Ally Bank's website and upload it into Quicken for each account.

Express Web Connect automatically downloads transactions from Ally Online Banking into Quicken. Quicken will ask you to input your Ally Online Banking username and password, and answer your security questions.

Note: At this time, Ally doesn't support Direct Connect.

  • What version of Quicken® can I use with Ally Online Banking?

Ally Online Banking works best with Quicken® versions that are no more than 2 years old.

  • Can I use Quicken® Direct Connect with Ally Bank?

No, Ally does not currently support Direct Connect; however, you can use Express Connect and Web Connect.

  • What is Web Connect and how do I use it?

Web Connect allows you to download your transactions from Online Banking, launch your Quicken software, and reconcile your transactions.

Since you are downloading your transactions manually from Ally's website into a Quicken format (QFX), you do not enter each transaction manually in Quicken.

Here are the steps required in order to use Web Connect:

    1. Login in to www.allybank.com.
    2. Select download account activity from right hand navigation.
    3. Select applicable account and date range.
    4. Select Quicken format.
    5. Select Save or Open File.
      1. If Open File is selected, Quicken will open and import transaction data.
      2. If Save File is selected, open Quicken and follow import rules.

You can download up to 18 months of transaction history from Online Banking.

  • What is Express Web Connect and how do I use it?

Express Web Connect automatically downloads transactions from Ally Online Banking into Quicken. After launching Quicken, it will ask you to input your Ally Online Banking username and password, and answer your security questions.

It will then automatically import your transaction information from your Ally account.

  • Why aren't my Ally account transactions showing in Quicken®?

There are a few possible reasons:

    • There are special characters in your account nickname. Characters, such as &, @, $, *, will prevent Quicken® from updating.

    • There were no transactions in your account for the given time period. This is often the case with CDs.

    • You changed your Ally Online Banking password and forgot to update the information in Quicken®.

For more detailed information about using Quicken®, please visit their support center at www.quicken.intuit.com/support.

    • Interest Checking
    • Online Savings Account
    • Money Market Account
    • Certificate of Deposit

Note: Ally does not currently support IRA account access through Quicken®.
