  • Does Ally have an employee volunteer program?

    Yes. Many of our employees take great pride in offering their time and talents to charitable organizations. Ally employee volunteer hours and contributions can be enhanced through the company's matching program. 
  • Does Ally offer a financial education program?

    Yes, the SmartEdge program focuses on teaching consumers how to establish good credit, manage a budget and evaluate financing options. The curriculum and consumer tips are available at no cost, and the website  features online tutorials.
  • How can I contact you?

  • How can I request a monetary donation for my organization?

    You can submit a Letter of Inquiry for an Ally corporate grant. Note that a company must be a nonprofit organization and able to provide proof of a 501(c)(3) designation from the IRS or international equivalent. Ally's Community Investment Council evaluates grant submissions.
  • How can I sign up to receive email alerts containing new Ally information?

    You can sign up for Ally event and SEC filing alerts here on our site. You can also sign up for Ally news releases.
  • How do I apply for an account?

    Submit an application online at ally.com or by phone at 877-247-ALLY (2559). You can also go to our account opening page and select "Other ways to apply" to download a printable appliction from ally.com and mail it to the address specified on the application. Just be sure to choose either Single/Joint Application, Custodial Application, or Trust Application and have your driver's license and Social Security number handy.
  • How do you protect my identity?

    We thoroughly train our employees to protect your personal information:

    • Whenever you contact us (by phone, online, or at a financial center), we protect your data and accounts by asking you for information that only you should know

    • We confirm your identity with confidential access codes before we ever allow access to your online accounts

    • We use technologies such as firewalls (which protect systems from intrusion) and encryption (scrambling of information) to provide the highest level of identity protection

    • We are continually enhancing our security tools and procedures

  • I am with a recruiting agency. How do I submit a candidate for your consideration?

    We don't accept unsolicited resumes from recruiters.

  • Is Ally Bank a different bank from GMAC Bank?

    Ally Bank used to be called GMAC Bank. It's the same bank. Your deposits, including any new deposits made to Ally Bank, will continue to be insured up to $250,000 per depositor.   • What should I do if my browser is rejected?

    If you are using an older browser version that no longer supports access to your online accounts, you will get a message saying that your browser does not meet specific security protocols. Just go to the Mozilla Firefox or  Microsoft home page and download the latest non–beta browser version.
