Grants Program Focus
We give to selected programs that serve low- and moderate-income individuals in the following areas:
- Financial literacy
- Community service
- Economic development
We believe it's important to give back to the communities where we live and work, which is why we focus our efforts in the following states:
- North Carolina
Nonprofit organizations are required to provide proof of a 501(c)(3) designation from the IRS. Applicants are also required to have their own IRS designated tax-exempt Employer Identification Number (EIN) and be in full compliance with the Ally Non-Discrimination Policy.
It is the policy of Ally to treat people on an equal basis regardless of an individual's age, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy status, marital status, military or veteran status, genetic disposition or any other status protected by law.
We do not fund the following:
- Athletic teams or social groups
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy status, marital status, military or veteran status, genetic disposition or any other status protected by law
- Memorial campaigns
- Political causes, campaigns or candidates
- Travel-related events
- Sponsorship of events
- Gifts or payments primarily for religious purposes or expenses, unless specified for a community outreach program, such as a soup kitchen, homeless shelter, or other related community service

Can one organization receive multiple financial grants?
No. We only award one grant per organization each calendar year.

How do I know if my organization and project is eligible to receive a financial grant from Ally?
You are required to confirm eligibility before you complete the grant application.
If my organization’s 501(c)(3), tax-exempt public charity status is pending, does my organization qualify to receive a financial grant?
No. Your organization must have an approved status.
Are fiscally sponsored programs and organizations eligible for an Ally grant?
Fiscally sponsored programs and organizations are not eligible. Fiscal sponsorship refers to the practice of nonprofit organizations offering their legal and tax-exempt status to groups engaged in activities related to the organization's missions. It typically involves a fee-based contractual arrangement between a project and an established nonprofit.
Who may apply for a financial grant?
The Ally Grants program is by invitation only. Ally’s charitable giving program provides financial grants to eligible organizations that support low- to moderate-income individuals in the following areas:
- Financial literacy (Michigan, North Carolina, Utah & surrounding areas)
- Community service (Michigan, North Carolina, Utah & surrounding areas)
- Economic development (Utah & surrounding areas)
When do you accept applications?
You may submit grant applications at any time after receiving an invitation from Ally to apply. Grant requests are reviewed on a rolling basis.
How do I submit my application?
Once you confirm your eligibility, you may apply online.
Must I complete the entire Ally grant application in one online session?
No. You may complete a portion of the application and save your information by establishing an ID and password. You can return at a later time to finish and submit the application.
