Yes, I do get a sense that the SPX will retreat significantly once the dam breaks on the buy-the-dip trading attitude that current investors seem to enjoy. Would not be surprised to see the index break its 50-day, the 100-day moving average at 4,262 (4.9% below current levels) and the next floor, the 200-day moving average at 4,021 (10% below current levels) over the next several months.

35

It’s been somewhat surprising that discretionary has not been reflect the increased spending. Could this mean the market inefficiencies are in play here?

It didn't address my particular situation at this time, but was interesting & somewhat informative. I found out about a lot of categories that I don't fit into. I also don't feel particularly safe about putting personal financial info on the internet. I find it to apparently be both a generational & experiential gap for myself.

No one questions how badly the tech markets have performed lately and it remains to be seen if there are some opportunities to get back in while prices are down. So much is happening in the world- inflation, wars, continuing pandemic fears, etc.

As a fairly new investor, I found your big picture layout of the investing atmosphere very enlightening, especially how you listed and explained the local, national and international market forces affecting key indicators of our economy. Dear Ms Bell, Thank you for making a complex problem — whether the market has yet hit “bottom” or not — easy for even me to comprehend. I always have wondered why my US and foreign bond funds seem to also be going down when stocks go down. Also, my real estate REIT ‘s (VNQ, FREL) have been hit hard, down close to 20%, but home prices are still high. Can that be as easily explained? I was thinking individual homes are like individual bonds (which retain their value) and REIT’s are like bond funds. Please comment. Sincerely, Jeff
