Whether it’s your first foray into managed portfolios or you’re a seasoned investor with years of experience under your belt, there’s one thing that we’re certain will make your life simpler: automated deposits. In fact, we think automated deposits make investing downright easy, because it takes away the stress of transferring money and rethinking how much every month.

Automating your investment deposits is also a great way to ensure you’re not using your investing funds on other things. That money won’t ever just sit around for you to eat into — it’ll be doing hard work for you in your managed portfolio.

At Ally Invest, you can set up automated deposits into your Ally Invest Managed Portfolio with just a few clicks — for no fee. Here’s how.

For new Ally Invest customers

This section is for those of you who haven’t yet applied for an Ally Invest account. Congratulations, you’re way ahead of the game, because you’re already thinking about automating your deposits!

Setting up automated deposits to your account will be super easy — because it’s right there on the account application. Go ahead and start your application, and once you get to the transfers prompt, you’ll be able to follow steps 3–7 in the next section.

For existing Ally Invest customers

Setting up automated deposits from one account to your Ally Invest account is quick and easy. Just follow these steps:

  1. Go to Ally.com and log in with your username and password.
  2. Choose “Transfers” and then “Investments.”
  3. Select “Bank Transfers.”
  4. Select “Deposit” and fill out the following information as prompted:
    • To Account
    • From Account (If your From Account is not an Ally account, you’ll need to link it at this point. All you have to do is select “Add an account at a different institution” and follow the prompts)
    • Amount
    • Date (of first transfer)
    • Frequency
  5. Select “Next.”
  6. Review your transfer request and select “Submit.”

Enjoy your newfound time and energy.

Once you automate your deposits, you’ll find that you have more time and energy to spend on other things — even if that’s just focusing on other investing endeavors. But you can rest assured that at least one chunk of your investment funds will stay consistent.
