You can use any Allpoint ATM with no fees. These are located outside of the U.S. in Canada, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, Mexico and Australia. You can find an ATM location at www.allpointnetwork.com. Some international and U.S. Territory ATM fees may also be included in the reimbursement; however surcharge fees not identified within the transaction by the originating ATM owner may not be reimbursed.
You won't see an Ally Bank ATM, but you can use your debit card at any ATM worldwide.
Yes. For your protection, you can withdraw up to $1,000 a day from ATMs. If you're new to Ally, your daily ATM withdrawal can be limited to as low as $500 during your first 90 days as an Ally Customer.
You still won't have to pay a fee. Just press YES to accept the fee and continue with your transaction.
Either you won't be charged, or we'll refund the surcharge.
If you notice we didn't refund an ATM charge, give us a call at 1-877-247-2559. Make sure you have details of the transaction on hand.
Yes, there is an international transaction fee of up to 1% when using an ATM located outside of the U.S. When using a non-Allpoint ATM overseas, an additional fee may be charged by the ATM owner.
Because the Savings Account is part of your IRA with Ally, you’ll need to request a distribution. You can either log in to online banking and complete the distribution request, call us 24/7 at 877-247-2559, or complete and mail in the Distribution Form.
Keep in mind, federal law permits limiting the number of withdrawals and transfers from all U.S. savings and money market accounts to 6 per statement cycle.
There's usually a $10 excessive transaction fee for each transaction over this limit, but we’re continuing to refund the fee on savings accounts for now.
Using the web or your mobile device, you can access your account, make payments, or move money at any time. You can also:
Use a debit card or checks for purchases and payments
Transfer money from your Ally accounts to your accounts at other institutions
Submit a wire transfer request online
Give us a call at 1-877-247-2559 to request a cashier’s check, at no charge.
We have two fee-free services to protect your Spending Account from overdrafts: Overdraft Transfer Service and CoverDraft℠ service. Use one or the other, or use them both together for an additional line of defense.
Overdraft Transfer Service
If you set up Overdraft Transfer Service and have sufficient funds in your linked savings or money market account to cover the transaction, we automatically transfer the funds to your Spending Account in increments of $100.
If you didn't set up Overdraft Transfer Service, your transaction may be declined, or we may pay the transaction and overdraw your account, but we won't charge an overdraft fee.
CoverDraft service acts as an overdraft safety net, providing up to $100 in temporary fee-free relief for some of your most common transactions, should you accidentally overspend. We notify you if any overdrafts occur, and you have 14 calendar days to bring your balance out of the negative and avoid having withdrawals restricted from your account.
Keep in mind, CoverDraft isn't a line of credit. We can end our CoverDraft service or suspend your right to use it at any time. We pay overdrafts at our discretion, and we don’t guarantee coverage. We'll decline your transaction if we don't cover it.
Both Services Together
When using both services together, we first move money in $100 increments from your linked account using Overdraft Transfer Service. If that’s not enough, the CoverDraft service may kick in with up to $100 in additional coverage.
We have two fee-free services to protect your account from overdrafts: Overdraft Transfer Service and CoverDraft℠ service. Use one or the other, or use them both together for an additional line of defense.
Sign up for Overdraft Transfer Service by choosing your account, then selecting Overdraft Transfer Service from account details. From there, you can link your Ally Bank Spending Account to a Savings or Money Market Account with us.
There's no signup needed for CoverDraft—in most cases, you'll qualify 30 days after your account has been funded with at least $100, through any combination of deposits.
You can make 10 limited withdrawals and transfers per statement cycle. You won’t be charged a fee for excessive transactions, but we’ll close your account if you exceed the limit on more than an occasional basis.
Consult your tax professional for details on IRA distributions or withdrawals.
You can make as many ATM withdrawals as you want. However, we limit certain types of withdrawals (including Online and Mobile Banking transfers, telephone transfers, Overdraft Transfer Service, checks and point-of-sale transactions) from your Money Market Account to 10 per statement cycle. There’s no fee for going over the limit, but we’ll close your account if you exceed it on more than an occasional basis.
