FAQs
We have answers.
There are several ways to add money to your account:
1. Online transfers: You can transfer money from another Ally account or an account you have at another institution, right from our app. Select Menu and then Linked Accounts to link your accounts at other banks.
2. Ally eCheck Deposit℠: You can deposit a check in our app with your phone’s camera. Make sure each check is properly endorsed with signatures of all payees. Also write For Mobile Deposit Only on the back.
3. Wire transfer: If you want to wire money from an account you have at another institution, select Menu and then choose Wire Money. Then select Receive a wire for more info on how you can wire from another financial institution into your Ally Bank account.
4. Mail your check: Make sure each check is properly endorsed with signatures of all payees and include a deposit slip if you have one. Also write your account number and For Deposit Only on the back. Be sure to seal the envelope properly and mail it to us at:
Ally Bank P.O. Box 13625 Philadelphia, PA 19101-3625
5. Direct deposit: Head over to our direct deposit setup page and set it up with your payment provider to automatically add money to your account every time you get paid.
6. Add cash to a Spending Account: Visit a Walmart Money Center or customer service desk and show the associate your unique barcode to add cash. To get your barcode, log in to our app, go to Menu and select Add Cash.

Both accounts give you easy access to your money and a competitive interest rate on your balance.
We limit certain types of withdrawals and transfers money market accounts to 10 per statement cycle. These limited transactions include things like Online and Mobile Banking transfers (between Ally Bank accounts or to a third party), Overdraft Transfer Service, checks, and point-of-sale transactions (such as debit card purchases).
While you will receive checks and a debit card for a Money Market Account, you won’t have access to the free online bill pay service that comes with a Spending Account. Remember, deposits are always unlimited and don’t count towards your transaction limit.
There’s no limit on the number of transactions you can make.
You’ll also get the convenience of our online bill pay service for free. And as your Spending Account balance grows, you could earn a higher interest rate.
Our savings account includes buckets and boosters, designed to help you organize and optimize your savings. Like digital envelopes, savings buckets help you organize whatever you're saving for without needing multiple accounts. Boosters like Surprise Savings and Round ups are money-saving tools to help you reach your goals faster.
Our money market account doesn't have buckets and boosters, but does offer a debit card and checks.
No, because the two account types include different features, and utilize different ways of accessing funds. Instead, a new Money Market Account must be opened. Then, you can choose to keep both accounts, or request to close the account you no longer want.
No. It’s not an investment account like a money market fund. The only thing variable about a Money Market Account is the interest rate. Your balance is FDIC-insured up to the maximum allowed by law.
