We'll send you important alerts by text and email about your payments and account, but we won't spam you with emails or texts you don't want.
To manage some of the texts and emails we send, log in and go to Alerts. To learn more about how you can stop receiving texts from us, view our terms and conditions.
If you've provided a mobile number and consent to text, log in to Ally Auto and go to the Alerts page to sign up for certain text alerts.
Once you've provided consent, you can manage some of the texts we send from Alerts.
We send text messages from 255921 or 25591. We also lead every text with "Ally."
To stop or start receiving certain payment reminders (including reminders that let you make payments by text), log in to Ally Auto, then go to Alerts to turn them on or off whenever you want.
Note that when we have your mobile number and consent, we may send you some text messages automatically. For example, if there’s an urgent issue with your account or you’ve set up a form of payment assistance, we may send you text alerts about those activities. We send these on a case-by-case basis, so you won’t be able to pick and choose from Alerts.
You can reply STOP to any text message we send, or log in to Ally Auto and revoke consent from the Contact Information section of your profile. (Un-check text messages from your mobile number.)
Keep in mind — if you reply STOP or remove consent from your profile, we'll stop sending all text messages. If you’d like to edit your preferences for certain text alerts (like those about your payments), log in to Ally Auto and go to Alerts.
Log in to Ally Auto and go to the Contact Information section of your profile to edit your mobile number.
On the Ally Auto app, go to your profile, then select View and edit contact information.
No. We send text alerts only to the number you've added to the mobile (Cell) section of your profile.
To see if you're eligible to make payments by text, log in to Ally Auto and go to the Payments section on the Alerts page. If you're not eligible, the option to sign up for text payments won't be available as a payment option.
It's a quick, easy, and secure way to pay that doesn't require you to log in.
If you've received a text stating that you can't pay by text, it's most likely because we've paused your pay-by-text ability due to one or more account-related reasons:
You scheduled your payment after the cutoff time.
We can’t process text payments scheduled after 10:45 pm ET on your payment due date.
You made a payment through another channel.
You won't be able to pay by text if: 1) you scheduled a payment of any amount through your Ally Auto Online account or 2) we received a payment of any amount through your Ally Auto Online account or another channel. You can sign up to pay by text the month after your scheduled payment has cleared.
You're more than 10 days late on your payment.
You currently can't pay by text if you're more than 10 days past due. You'll be able to pay by text again once your account is up to date. Keep in mind, if you pay after your due date, we'll charge a late fee in accordance with your contract. You'll also incur additional finance charges (for non-lease accounts) each day that you're late. Learn more about payment terms
You've lost access to some payment or account features. Contact us if you need help understanding more about your account status.
You scheduled your payment by text when Ally Auto is unavailable or down due to technical difficulties.
You'll need to log in to Ally Auto at a later time to make your payment.
If none of these scenarios apply to you, contact us.
We automatically stop sending pay by text reminders if you opt out from Alerts, revoke text message consent, set up Auto Pay, don't have exactly one payment account on file, or add a vehicle to your profile. If these scenarios don't apply to you and you still received the unenrollment alerts, contact us.
There might be a few reasons why.
If you're enrolled in recurring payments, like Auto Pay or Direct Pay, you can't sign up because we already draft your payments automatically — there’s no need for an additional reminder to pay.
If you don't have exactly one payment account on file, you won't be able to make your payment by text. Log in to Ally Auto and add or remove payment accounts from Payment Accounts under the Payments tab.
If you have more than one vehicle on your account, you can't sign up to pay by text. This feature only supports profiles with one vehicle at a time right now.
If we don't have consent to text you, we can't send you pay by text alerts. To check your consent status, go to the Contact Information section of your profile.
Yes, we've implemented security measures to ensure paying by text is a secure transaction. For example, we'll confirm the mobile number provided to make sure that it's you before sending out SMS messages.
Additionally, we keep the information within the text general in case the text is seen by someone else.
Paying by text is optional. If you'd like to pay another way, just ignore the text from us.
No. You can only pay your regular monthly amount due by text — no more, no less. If you’d like to pay a different amount, you can always pay online through your Ally Auto Online account.
